‡ Professional Website Design
Fuchsia McInerney began her career in graphic design when she should have been committed to the pages of Milton?s Paradise Lost. While completing her B.A. in English Literature at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, Fuchsia opted for electives in graphic design and in her spare moments honed her programming skills through small web design projects.
Fuchsia spent her first post-grad year in Fort Walton Beach, Florida as a full-time writer, editor and web designer for the nationally distributed bi-annual leisure publication, Destin Magazine. In addition to researching and writing special interest stories, ad copy and everything in between, Fuchsia edited the final copy prior to press, and designed and maintained the official magazine website.
During her time in Florida, Fuchsia also served as President of the Emerald Coast Writers, a regional writers? group of 100+ members. At the helm of this non-profit organization she facilitated the annual literary journal contest and publication, monthly meetings and the annual writers? conference drawing authors, agents and publishers from around the country. To enhance the group?s media exposure, Fuchsia coordinated public relations, composed promotional materials and revamped the official website.
After her crash course in journalism and non-profit leadership, Fuchsia formed Pearse Street Consulting, named after her street of residence during a year studying abroad in Dublin, Ireland, a known source of inspiration for Irish writers and artists. In that spirit, Pearse Street Consulting would approach every design project with the highest aesthetic standards and an intuitive approach to clients? marketing and branding goals.
With the explosion of social networking sites like MySpace, Facebook and LinkedIn, the demand for professional representation with high-level graphics on these sites grew. Specializing in new media design and marketing solutions, Fuchsia and her team of designers and programmers began tackling the MySpace platform, researching work-arounds for coding limitations and pushing the envelope with original design concepts.
Professional designs for artists, non-profits and businesses fill the Pearse Street online portfolio, marking them as ?gurus? in this niche market. Fuchsia has personally designed MySpace profiles for Pope John Paul II, Bigelow Tea, D12, Smiley World, Durex, and many more.
In 2007 Fuchsia relocated Pearse Street to Lynn, Massachusetts on Boston?s north shore. Today she manages a team of in-house and contract designers, specializing in illustrative graphic design, Flash animation, database design, and all realms of computer and Internet geekery.
?Designing for new media is the most exhilarating form of art that I could hope to be involved with,? says Fuchsia. ?From websites to MySpace pages, designing for the Internet gives us the opportunity to share our creativity through a dynamic and interactive user experience. We?re a passionate, albeit nerdy, group but we love what we do, and we?re on a mission to make the Internet a more inspiring place, one project at a time.?
